Classic House Design by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Built in 1869, this is the oldest house in Sausalito. Sited along a creek, the original building is a simple clapboard farmhouse with high ceilings. The house had been added onto in the 1920’s when plumbing was introduced. Since the original structure is historically significant, our design approach was to demolish the addition and replace it with a new one that allowed the kitchen to move out of the historic house. Roofing the kitchen with translucent panels allows warm southern light to flow into the house. New axial openings transform the small dark historic rooms. A deck now connects the house to its large side yard and the creek.

Modern House Design Sea Ranch by Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects

Located at the southern end of The Sea Ranch on a narrow lot with adjacent neighbors, the master bedroom structure was pulled apart from the main house and linked with a deck to frame the ocean view and let the landscape and exterior living space take center stage on the site. We set the main house back from the oceanfront and tucked the master bedroom building behind a mature cypress grove. By organizing the program into distinct structures sited in relation to the stand of trees along the edge of the lot, a private sanctuary was created within the developed landscape of The Sea Ranch.

The Six Ramsgate Residence by Wallflower Architecture

Located on 6 Ramsgate Road in Singapore, the Six Ramsgate Residence is rested on a 1200 square meter site area with a built-in area measuring 855 square meter. The residence was built for a client who desires for a home with a perception of substantial private space. As a consequence, the project has resulted in the development of a spatial program that internalizes spaces such as pools and gardens normally regarded as external to the envelope of the house. As the energy efficiency component, the building organizes environmental transparencies at ground level and between courtyards important in passively cooling the house. Architects from Wallflower Architecture + Design completed this residence 2009.

Familia Ramírez Pons House by Pons Architects

The Furgovilla or House of Trucks is the way in which Daniel Pons called his residence, a work which combines both fantasy of every architect to make your own home with the mischievous imagination and found art resources (trucks, silos, tanks) that rather than limit this project offered a new alternative for innovation and responsiveness. Furgovilla, which belongs to Familia Ramírez Pons, is a compendium of the vernacular sensitized and tropical in conjunction with the formal architecture, a mix of issues that come together in a work clearly communicative scenic private and homely face, and the professional side of the architect as the project’s direct references.
